City commission meeting agenda set

A light agenda faces Hays city commissioners when they meet for Thursday's work session at 6:30 p.m. at city hall.

Acquisition of 1.6 acres of land, at a cost of $7,500, adjacent to the Vineyard Road Park east of the Home Depot property will be considered by commissioners.

"The thought is to utilize this park as a nature trail, which hopefully will be constructed in a year or two," Assistant City Manager Paul Briseno said during a press conference.

Other agenda items include:

* Discussion of award of bid for sandblasting and painting of the water-plant clarifier. The project was bid at $5,900, approximately $1,500 under budget, and is anticipated to take two weeks.

* Consideration of establishing a benefit district for King's Gate park improvements. Costs for the park, estimated at $75,000 will be assessed to property owners of the development located north of 41st Street.

* Revision to economic development policy matrix. The revised matrix removes 75 percent and 100 percent abatements.
