Authors will speak at lecture series
The spring semester Fort Hays State University Department of History and Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society Clio Lecture will feature James Leiker and Ramon Powers.
The lecture will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the FHSU Robbins Center and is free to the public. Leiker and Powers are FHSU alumni and winners of the 2012 Great Plains Book Award for their book, "The Cheyenne Exodus in History and Memory."
A book signing will follow the lecture.
Leiker is the director of Johnson County Community College's Kansas Studies Program and the 2002 co-winner of the Fehrenbach Award for best book in Texas history. Powers is the former director of the Kansas State Historical Society. Both historians have presented and published extensively on the history of Kansas, the Great Plains and the American West.
