Damar celebrating town, church anniversaries

The Damar Jubilee, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the city of Damar and the 100th anniversary of St. Joseph Catholic Church, gets started Friday with a homecoming social at the community building, Texas Hold 'Em tournament and a movie in the park.

Saturday's celebration will feature games for kids and adults, a craft fair, parade, barbecue meal, dance and many other activities.

St. Joseph Church's 100-year commemoration will be Sunday, with a Mass at the church at 4 p.m. Some of the other events will include a poker run, stained glass window contest, meal and fireworks.
