Fire departments to conduct drill downtown

The Hays Fire Department will conduct a large-scale training exercise Sunday in downtown Hays. The exercise, which simulates a large fire burning in the downtown area, will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Main Street will be closed to traffic between 11th and 12th streets, and 12th Street will be closed between Main and Oak streets. The intersections of Main Street and 11th Street, and Main Street and 12th Street also will be closed.

The Hays, Ellis, Victoria and Ellis County rural fire departments conduct an annual mutual aid drill. The Hays Police Department, Ellis County EMS, Ellis County Emergency Management and Hays Public Works also will participate.
