An Oklahoma City man remained in the Ellis County jail on Tuesday after he was arrested on multiple drug-related charges after officers spotted drug paraphernalia in his car while it was parked outside a Hays motel.

David Twichell, 24, was arrested early Tuesday morning by Hays Police, who were doing a routine check of vehicles parked in the motel parking lot, Lt. Brandon Wright said. He didn't want to identify the motel.

Officers routinely check vehicles in motel parking lots and spotted the drug paraphernalia in Twichell's vehicle.

After seeing the item, police arrested him for possession of 62 ounces of marijuana. They also seized a 2008 Subaru, $2,569 in cash, an iPad and an iPhone.

He was arrested at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.

He was being held Tuesday in the Ellis County jail on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp.
