A fatality accident in Gove County on Monday claimed the life of an Oakley woman.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Cherie Nicole Jackson, 19, was driving west on Old U.S. Highway 40, 1 mile west of Adams Street in Grinnell, when she lost control of her vehicle, which drove off the south edge of the roadway and rolled several times before coming to rest on its passenger side.

KHP reports Jackson was thrown from her 2002 GMC Envoy. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Jackson initially was taken by emergency medical services to Logan County Hospital in Oakley before being transported to Via Christi in Wichita.

Jackson died approximately four hours after the accident.
