HOXIE -- A Norton man died Thursday night in a one-vehicle accident south of Hoxie.

Bobby Wayne Smith, 41, was southbound on Kansas Highway 23 about 7 1/2 miles south of Hoxie at 8:20 p.m. Thursday when he lost control of the SUV he was driving.

The vehicle went into a broadside skid and rolled several times on the roadway, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The vehicle then entered the east ditch, coming to rest on its wheels facing northeast.

Smith died on the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.
