Fire damages kitchen of house Wedensday

A house in the 2700 block of Willow suffered significant smoke damage Wednesday as the result of a fire started by cooking.

The Hays Fire Department responded to 2722 Willow just after 3:30 p.m., according to Capt. Jerry Haynes.

Haynes said there was significant fire damage to the kitchen with the rest of the house sustaining smoke damage.

Twenty-one firefighters responded to the scene, which was cleared about two hours later.
