Flame Engineering, La Crosse, has been certified in OSHA's Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program. The SHARP recognition first was achieved in October 2000 and will continue to 2011. Flame Engineering manufactures propane burners for weed control.

Alvera Reichert, Hays, was honored for her five-year service in Iraq managing more than $3 billion worth of contracts for the United States Agency for International Development.  The federal government presented her with an Acquisition Excellence Award in San Antonio for advancing U.S. national interests through the delivery of development programs in Iraq and representing the best of the American people through  personal and sustained commitment to improving the lives of the Iraqi people.
