Timothy Paul Gatschet, the 59-year-old Victoria man arrested in April 2008 after a pipe bomb and other explosives materials were found in his home, was sentenced Monday in Ellis County court.

Appearing before District Judge Ed Bouker, Gatschet received a 43-month prison term after pleading in March to criminal use of an explosive device and attempted use of an explosive device, which would have tacked on an additional 12 months had the sentences not been ruled to run concurrently.

Gatschet was arrested in April 2008 after Ellis County Sheriff's officers were serving a search warrant at his home.

At the time of the arrest, Gatschet was in Wichita, where he was licensed as a physician. Gatschet gave up his license in April in the face of disciplinary proceedings by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.

He has been remanded into the custody of the Ellis County Sheriff's office until he can be transported to a correctional facility.

Why was he making the pipe bomb? Now he gets to play doctor with the 'big boys', not 12 y/o's.

Hey micky mouse, pipe bombs dont kill people, people kill people by use of these if they are intended as a weapon to harm people. If you know more facts than the paper wrote about, then why dont you share some of them facts with the public.

No intent?: 6/23/2009
How do we know he didn't have any intent to harm?

43 months, good thing he didn't kill someone with a baseball bat. He will probably learn how to make a better bomb in the prison!
