FFA hoping warm-up helps plant sales
By The Hays Daily News
The annual plant sale sponsored by Hays High School's FFA program didn't have as many customers on Day 1 as usual Tuesday because of the unseasonably cold weather.
But FFA adviser Curt Vajnar said he expects more participation the rest of the week as the weather warms up.
Students in Vajnar's horticulture class will be selling bedding plants from 3:30 to 6 p.m. today and Friday in the HHS E-Building Greenhouse on the southeast corner of the school at 2300 E. 13th.
The selection includes tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers, as well as numerous flowers. There also are hanging baskets with geraniums, petunias and ice plants.
Vegetable four-packs can be purchased for $1.50 each; 4-inch geranium and vegetable pots, as well as flower six-packs, are $2 each; and 10-inch hanging baskets are $12.
