Three teens taken to Wichita following accident
HOXIE -- Three teenagers were airlifted to Wichita hospitals Wednesday after a one-vehicle accident 14 miles north of Hoxie.
Colten D. Wachendorfer, 17, Selden, was northbound on Kansas Highway 23 at approximately 9:45 p.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign, entering the Kansas Highway 123 intersection in a broadside skid, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report. Wachendorfer's 2002 Pontiac Firebird went into the north ditch, rolled and came to rest on its wheels.
Wachendorfer and two passengers, Jesse J. Mumm, 18, Vian, Okla., and Jaime Labrado, 17, were taken to Sheridan County Health Complex before being airlifted to Wichita hospitals. Wachendorfer was the only one not wearing a seat belt, according to a KHP report.
