SCRANTON (AP) -- The Kansas fire marshal says arson caused the fire at a home where three children and one adult were found dead.

The fire was reported at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the northeast Kansas town of Scranton, located in Osage County about 20 miles southwest of Topeka.

Details on the victims, the arson and what caused the deaths had not been released late Monday. Autopsies were to be performed in neighboring Shawnee County. The Osage County sheriff's office says foul play has not been ruled out.

Neighbors in the town of about 725 people said the well-kept ranch-style house was occupied by a husband and wife and their three children.
