EnerSys makes changes at the top

A change in management at Enersys is under way, as a company official confirmed Monday that Tom Kotch, plant manager, is no longer employed with the manufacturing facility.
Malcolm Gavant, Enersys vice president of operations reserve power, said he temporarily will be stepping into the management role.
"In the short interim, I'll be taking direct responsibility for this factory until a replacement is named," Gavant said in a phone interview Monday.
Gavant, who oversees operations at both the Hays plant and the Warrensburg, Mo. plant, said efforts are underway to replace Kotch. He declined to discuss details surrounding Kotch's departure from the company.
Kotch had served as manager of the Hays plant since October 2007.
Kotch, who is active in many local civic organizations and also serves as chairman of the board of the Ellis County Coalition for Economic Development, said he preferred not to comment on the development.
According to ECC Executive Director Aaron White, no change to the ECC board has been planned, and Kotch continues to serve on the board.
Kotch stepped in as chairman of the ECC board in January. He is serving a one-year term.
