NCK Tech to graduate 100+
By DIANE GASPER-O'BRIEN
Approximately 100 students will be honored at Saturday's 2013 graduation ceremonies of North Central Kansas Technical College's Hays campus.
The nursing pinning is set for 1:30 p.m. in Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center of Fort Hays State University's Sheridan Hall. During that time, five veterans of the U.S. Military also will be honored with the Veterans Honorary Associate Degree.
Veterans for that degree, started last year at the technical college to honor and thank those who have served the country but never got the opportunity to earn a degree, are nominated and recognized at graduation.
Saturday's graduation ceremony is set for 3 p.m., also in Beach/Schmidt.
A total of 176 students from 10 programs, including several two-year associate degree programs, have completed requirements for graduation this year -- 128 at the certificate level and 48 associate degrees.
Saturday's featured speaker at graduation will be Mike Michaelis, director of Kansas Energy Works at Fort Hays State University.
It will mark the first graduation for Eric Burks as president of NCK Tech, which has campuses in Beloit and Hays. After several years as dean of instruction on the Beloit campus, Burks took over as president last summer.
