NICODEMUS -- Angela Wetz soon will begin her duties as superintendent of the Nicodemus Historic Site.

She currently is chief of resource management for the National Park Service at Devil's Tower National Monument in northeast Wyoming.

She will start her new job next week in Nicodemus, an all-black community in Graham County.

Wetz started her career in 1999 with the Bureau of Land Management, transferring in 2011 to the park service at her current position.

"I am honored to be selected as the superintendent of Nicodemus National Historic Site," Wetz said in a statement. "I look forward to working with the staff, park partners and the surrounding communities to continue the mission of protecting and preserving the site's remarkable cultural significance."

Established in 1996, Nicodemus, is the only remaining western town established by African-Americans after the Civil War.
