It's not often a NASCAR driver comes to Hays.
It's even more rare for two NASCAR drivers to be in town on the same day.
That's part of what made Tuesday night's Mod Mania event at RPM Speedway in Hays so special. Kenny Schrader made a return trip to the dirt oval in Ellis County -- he was here in 2009 as well -- and this time, Emporia native Clint Bowyer competed as well in the star-studded event.
A total of nearly 100 drivers in the IMCA modified and Northern sport mod classes took to the track, providing the full grandstands and overflowing pit area with classic entertainment.
The pit areas of Schrader and Bowyer were full all night long as fans clamored to get as close to the stars as possible. Both also had large crowds for their respective meet-and-greets prior to the races.
And when the pit gates opened following the night's action, thousands of people crowded around the trailers of Schrader and Bowyer to get a peek and an autograph -- as well as memorabilia.
The night provided one of the largest crowds in track history.
