Real estate agent strikes out on her own
By RANDY GONZALES
Myrietta Leach, with 11 years of experience in the field, looked around and thought a new real estate agency was needed. Leach also knew she always had wanted to be in business for herself.
Four weeks ago, Leach, 38, left Coldwell Banker Executive Realty after those 11 years and opened her own RE/MAX agency in Hays.
"I felt Hays, the surrounding counties, the surrounding towns, we needed to offer a full-service real estate company," Leach said. "We can list, we can sell. We can list residential, commercial, construction, farm ground."
Leach is the company's broker, and partner Mike Downing has his real estate license.
"Mike has a lot of resources," Leach said.
Downing was in the banking field for more than 30 years before retiring, Leach said.
"We have enough knowledge between Mike and myself that we're able to list and sell, and be able to give buyers and sellers a full service," Leach said.
The company, which has five listings so far, is located at 4333 Vine, Ste. 40. A grand opening is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 27.
Leach hopes to grow the business.
"We will be looking for new agents; we will be recruiting new agents," she said. "Within the next two years, I would like to have five agents working for me."
RE/MAX previously had an office in Hays in the 1980s, Leach said. It has 6,322 offices in 91 countries.
And now, one in Hays again.
"I am excited," Leach said. "Just knowing we got our signs out there, people are noticing.
"We just need to get people out here to see the building, and see what we have to offer."
