Roosevelt principal announces retirement

Printer-friendly version

The retiring of one administrator and the hiring of another highlighted the personnel transactions at Monday's Board of Education meeting for Hays USD 489.

Carol Shepherd, principal of Roosevelt Elementary, is retiring after 28 years in the district, including the last 10 in her current position.

Todd Bryant, technology assistant at Hays High School since 2004, has been hired as operational technology coordinator for the district. He replaces Mary Wood, who resigned earlier this month to move to Indiana.

A complete list of personnel transactions from Monday night's meeting is on page A2.

Other items approved at Monday's meeting were:

* A facilities fee of $2,400 per game to be paid to Fort Hays State University for the use of Lewis Field Stadium. Hays High will play five home games at the stadium this fall and four in 2009.

*¬ Workbook and material fees of $15 for summer 2008 and $30 for instructional materials for technology fees for Hays High School. Summer fees, which range from $50 to $200, remained the same as a year ago.

* Bills of $3,391,690 to be paid.

The board also was presented with capital outlay estimates for 2008-09 as well as a list of capital outlay requests by principals in USD 489.
