Area KAMS students fare well at competition
Several local underclassmen turned in impressive performances at the Kansas Science and Engineering Fair last month in Wichita.
Sophomore Russell Krug from Thomas More Prep-Marian High School finished first in the physics and physical science division, followed by two teams of Hays High School freshmen. The duo of Madison Prough and Morgan Klaus were second, and classmates Ben Morley and Kacie Brous tied for third.
Another HHS freshman also recorded a first-place finish as Kinsey Ackerman was the winner of the social/behaviorial science division.
Juniors Kennedy Walsh and Katy Sullivan from Downs-Lakeside finished first in chemistry, followed by Lakeside freshmen Garrett McBlair and Jacob Long in second place.
Students qualified for state by virtue of their top finishes in regional competition earlier this semester.
