Two drug-related arrests were made during the execution of three search warrants in Hays, Ellis County Sheriff Ed Harbin said Wednesday, and additional arrests could be forthcoming.

The search warrants, executed during the course of the day Monday and Tuesday at three separate locations by members of the Ellis County Drug Enforcement Unit, were part of an ongoing investigation.

The first search warrant was executed at a mobile home in the 700 block of East Sixth, Harbin said, and violations there included sale of methamphetamine, sale of prescription drugs, distribution of psilocybin mushrooms, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, use of a telephone and no drug stamp.

James Neil, 32, already being held in the Ellis County jail on unrelated charges, was arrested in connection with that search, Harbin said.

A second person was interviewed, but not arrested, and details about the case will be forwarded to Ellis County Attorney Tom Drees for possible filing of charges.

The second search warrant, executed in the 1000 block of East Eighth, resulted in the arrest of Adam B. Houchin, 32, Harbin said, on sale of methamphetamine, sale of synthetic marijuana K-2, sale of prescription drugs, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and use of a telephone.

Details concerning two people involved in the final search at 707 E. Sixth also will be forwarded to Drees for possible filing of charges. No arrests were made in that search.

Authorities found evidence of possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

"These are ongoing cases," Harbin said.

He did not know the exact amount of drugs that had been seized during the execution of the warrants.

No formal charges have been filed.

The DEU is made up of officers from the Ellis County Sheriff's Department, Hays Police and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
