Due to concerns about the weather, Ellis County will not participate in the statewide tornado drill at 1:30 p.m. today, according to Ellis County Emergency Management director Bill Ring.

The forecast calls for a chance of rain and winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 this afternoon.

The statewide drill, part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, was postponed by the National Weather Service from Monday due to severe weather concerns.

Ring said in a Facebook posting that weekly siren tests are scheduled to begin in Ellis County on Monday.
