Downtown group's director resigns

The Downtown Hays Development Corporation announced Wednesday that Traci Stanford has resigned as executive director due to career relocation.

Stanford’s husband Jerrod, former graduate assistant men’s basketball coach at Fort Hays State University, accepted the position of assistant men’s basketball coach at Lane College in Jackson, Tenn.

“I am so blessed to have been able to work for the DHDC and to give back to the heart of the community,” Stanford said. “Downtown is my absolute favorite thing about Hays, and we are truly going to miss being part of this wonderful community.”

Stanford has worked for DHDC since May 2011. She is a graduate of FHSU. Stanford’s last day will be Sept. 20.

“Though we are saddened to lose Traci, both as executive director of the DHDC and as a member of our community, we wish her and Jerrod the very best as they take this very exciting next step in their lives,” said DHDC President Sandy Jacobs “She has done so much to advance our beautiful downtown. She has worked to create outstanding annual events, engaged our businesses in the Downtown and led our organization to a much stronger financial position. As a result of Traci's leadership, her successor will be joining a dynamic, thriving and robust organization.”

DHDC is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster awareness and promote downtown Hays. Questions about the executive director position can be directed to (785) 621.4171 or dhdc@downtownhays.com.
