A culmination of a months-long project that began last summer will be on display for the public next weekend when the TMP Singers perform "Painted Broadway."

The 11th annual dinner show for the select vocal performance group at Thomas More Prep-Marian High School is set for Feb. 4 and 5 at the school.

The theme for this year's show was formed from the consolidation of songs about color and songs from Broadway.

Kathy Dreiling Amrein, director of music at TMP, said several members of the group attended a summer camp at Butler County Community College in El Dorado during the summer and learned a lot about choreography.

"And we have excellent senior female leaders this year who can teach the others the choreography," she said of seniors Laura Braun and Katelyn Flax, each in their third year with the TMP Singers.

Students audition for the TMP Singers group at the beginning of school and start practicing for the dinner show in September.

Amrein said she likes to pick a theme for the show, the group's largest fundraiser each year, where the students "have to research things."

"They had fun with it," she added, noting the excitement when they found "Red River Ball," a pop song from the 1960s.

"They asked if I'd ever heard of it," Amrein said with a laugh. "The same with 'Tie A Yellow Ribbon 'round the Old Oak Tree.' "

The first act will feature songs with colors in them, while the second act will be comprised of songs from Broadway.

Senior Austin Werth is the only four-year member of this year's TMP Singers. Colby Schippers is a three-year member, along with Braun and Flax, while Brett Chrisler, in his second year with the group, completes the list of seniors.

Juniors are Hannah Dreiling, Maria Marcotte, Andie Marsell, Kade Megaffin and Jenna Schuckman.

The underclassmen are led by sophomores Mikaela Flax, Michael Schulte, Emily Staab and Taylor Wasinger, while freshmen Adam Flax, Cody Kreutzer, Matt Mindrup, Ryan Schippers, Kelli Veach and Grace Volker round out the 20-member roster.
