Twisters strike edges of La Crosse, Russell
A pair of powerful storm cells swept through northwest Kansas last night, focusing much of their fury on Rush and Russell counties.
Hail, tornadoes and severe thunderstorms lasted for about three hours in the region, causing damage to buildings in La Crosse and Russell. Only minor injuries were reported.
In La Crosse, a tornado struck a glancing blow on the south-central portion of town, damaging a car wash and destroying four mobile homes.
In Russell, at least one home was flattened by a rope tornado, which also caused damaged to neighboring houses.
