Nex-Tech Wireless and TC Wireless, a subsidiary of Tri-County Telephone Association based in Council Grove, announced today they have entered into a purchase agreement under which TC Wireless will acquire a 10-percent interest in Nex-Tech Wireless. The agreement has been approved by both companies' board of directors/managers.
The partnership will enhance the spectrum holdings of Nex-Tech Wireless, allowing for expansion into east-central Kansas. The transaction represents a large initiative by both companies to provide customers with superior wireless products and services, as well as local customer service and support. The deal is expected to close after receiving all necessary regulatory approvals. The first phase of a three-phase build plan is expected to be completed in 2015.
"This agreement will provide Nex-Tech Wireless the opportunity to expand our footprint and strengthen coverage throughout central and eastern Kansas," said Jon Lightle, CEO of Nex-Tech Wireless. "Nex-Tech Wireless will gain an owner who has a rich history providing telecommunication services.
"This is a growth opportunity for Nex-Tech Wireless and will strengthen our financial position and ability to compete in the increasingly competitive wireless marketplace. Our focus will continue to be providing superior network coverage to the rural communities throughout Kansas. Because we are a local company, backed by owners who have served their communities for many years, we can better meet the needs of customers and business owners."
TCT CEO Dale Jones said, "The partnership with Nex-Tech Wireless is a perfect fit for our company. This will provide our customers, in the future, with the latest wireless services and products, while maintaining the first-class customer service from a local company that they trust. The partnership is a great opportunity for TCT while providing quality communications solutions for our communities."
