Head-on crash kills 2 in central Kansas

STERLING, Kan. (AP) -- The Kansas Highway Patrol says two drivers have been killed in a head-on collision in the central part of the state.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Monday on Kansas 14, near the Rice County town of Sterling.
The patrol says a northbound car crossed the center line for unknown reasons and struck a southbound pickup truck driven by 75-year-old Laverne Barnes of Sterling. Both he and the driver of the northbound car, 29-year-old Virginia Larkin, of Lyons, were wearing seat belts.
