TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback is holding a briefing about response plans for the second winter storm to hit the state in less than a week.

Brownback and Maj. Gen. Lee Tafanelli, director of the Kansas Division of Emergency Management, will be discussing the state's preparations and planned response to the winter storm expected to hit the state beginning Sunday evening. The briefing is scheduled for Sunday evening in Topeka.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard watch from late Sunday through late Monday for western Kansas ahead of the strong storm system that's packing, snow and high winds. The storm has been tracking across western Texas toward Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri.

The area was hit by a massive storm last week that dumped a foot of snow in some sections.
