Court issues injunction against Kan. tax preparer

Eds: APNewsNow.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) -- A Kansas City-area tax preparer accused of falsifying returns has been barred from doing business.

The U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kan., issued a permanent injunction this past week against Carlos Cruz. He prepared returns on the Missouri and Kansas side of the state line under the business name of Carlos Income Tax Services.

U.S. Attorney Lanny D. Welch accused Cruz of disregarding the information on clients' W2 income tax forms and advising one client to "just tell me how much you want to pay or want for a refund."

The permanent injunction was issued after Cruz failed to answer Welch's complaint and request for an injunction.
