Kan. revises Cerner, Wizards plan

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- Kansas officials say they're hopeful a revised package of incentives will succeed in bringing a soccer stadium and office complex to Wyandotte County.
The $230 million package would help Missouri-based medical software maker Cerner Corp. build an office complex and finance a stadium for Major League Soccer's Kansas City Wizards. The project would also include soccer fields for amateur teams.
The development would be located near NASCAR's Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.
Kansas Commerce Secretary Bill Thornton has modified the offer to make $47 million in incentives available immediately.
Cerner and Wizards officials say the project could bring 9,000 jobs to Kansas. Cerner officials declined Wednesday to comment about the proposal or negotiations.
