Dedication ceremony Saturday at W. Kan. reservoir

Eds: APNewsNow.

JETMORE, Kan. (AP) -- A $14 million reservoir project in western Kansas will be the site of a dedication ceremony this weekend.

Project backers say HorseThief Reservoir is about 40 percent full and should be completely filled within four or five years, with average rainfall. The project is being funded by a sales tax voters in Hodgeman, Finney, Ford and Gray counties approved in 2005.

New park manager Josh Hobbs will be on hand Saturday to speak to the public about the reservoir, which will provide a place for fishing and boating in a part of the state with few large bodies of water.

The dedication begins at 2 p.m. at the reservoir a mile south of U.S. 156 in Hodgeman County.
