Kansas families have generations of pastors

Eds: APNewsNow. Will be led.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) -- They're sometimes known as PKs, or pastor's kids, and at some Kansas churches, they've become pastors themselves.

Josh Longbottom, associate pastor at Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence, is one of them, though he laughs about not looking the part, with his long hair and buttoned-down clothes.

He admits to being a bit rebellious as a child and resisting his father's belief that he'd become a pastor.

At the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence, the tradition runs even deeper for the Rev. Tom Brady, the pastor there. His family has six generations of ministers.

And in his case, his father doubted that he'd become a minister.

But he says he wouldn't be surprised if one of his children made it a seventh generation of Methodist pastors.
