Murder charge against Kan. teen upgraded
Eds: APNewsNow.
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- A 19-year-old northeast Kansas woman now faces a charge of first-degree felony murder in the death of a baby girl.
Lauren Holle of Marysville was originally charged on June 26 with second-degree murder in the Marshall County death of a girl identified in court documents only as "Baby Girl Holle."
Kansas Attorney General Steve Six's office has since upgraded the charge. A spokeswoman says the new charge requires prosecutors to prove that Holle intended to commit an underlying felony -- in this case, aggravated endangerment of a child.
If convicted, Holle could face 20 years to life in prison.
