Fire in Wilson destroys opera house, no injuries

WILSON, Kan. (AP) -- A fire this morning in the Ellsworth County town of Wilson has damaged several buildings on the town's main street, and destroyed an historic opera house.

Police Chief Mike Schoenhofer says a fire at a garage on the main street was reported about 2 a.m. The fire eventually spread to the opera house and damaged other businesses on main street. No injuries were reported.

Schoenhofer says the fire was under control by 5 a.m. About a dozen fire departments helped fight the blaze.
