Ala. man pleads guilty to crimes in 5 states

Eds: APNewsNow.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- An Alabama man has pleaded guilty to committing armed robberies in five states during a cocaine-fueled crime spree in August.

U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch announced Friday that 26-year-old Robert Cameron Foust, of Alabaster, Ala., pleaded guilty to armed robberies in Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Welch says Foust admitted that the five-day crime spree occurred after he relapsed into cocaine use shortly after being released from Alabama state prison in August. He was arrested in Salina on Aug. 26 after committing a robbery earlier in the day in Newton.

Sentencing is set for March 1, 2010. He faces up to life in prison.
