Officers behind junk fax scam face Kan. sentencing

Eds: APNewsNow. Will be led from 10:30 a.m. hearing.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- The president and sales manager of a Florida consulting firm are set to return to a federal courtroom for sentencing for their roles in a massive fax blast operation. Prosecutors say the enterprise scammed thousands of small business owners across the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Richard Hagan is the chief executive of the Melbourne, Fla.-based PBS Global Inc. He pleaded guilty in September to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering.

Sales manager John Persaud, of Boca Raton, Fla., also has pleaded guilty to similar charges.

Both men go before U.S. District Judge Wesley Brown on Friday for sentencing.
