Kansas National Guard soldiers heading to Egypt

Eds: APNewsNow. Will be led.

SALINA, Kan. (AP) -- Kansas National Guard soldiers from Clay Center are preparing to deploy to Egypt to supervise the implementation of the Egyptian-Israeli Treaty of Peace.

About 425 soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 130th Field Artillery and a subordinate unit from Clay Center, the 250th Forward Support Battalion, will make the trip.

The Guard soldiers are now conducting pre-mobilization training in Salina.

The pre-mobilization training includes Army warrior tasks -- exercises to ensure soldiers are up to speed on the skills they will need.

A deployment ceremony will be held on July 19 at the Bicentennial Center in Salina.
