Cause of Offerle fire undetermined

Eds: APNewsNow.

OFFERLE, Kan. (AP) -- The state fire marshal has been unable to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a landmark building in Offerle earlier this month.

The fire on June 12 burned down a 97-year-old building on in the small Edwards County town.

Mark Lampe, Offerle's assistant fire chief, says officials believe the fire started from an electrical problem, but it was not possible to determine a specific cause.

The building had housed a grocery store for most of its life.
