Fort Riley adviser dies in Iraq

FORT RILEY, Kan. (AP) -- An Army sergeant from Wyoming sent to Iraq to serve as an adviser has died in a vehicle accident.

The Pentagon says that Staff Sgt. Ryan L. Zorn of Upton, Wyo., died Monday when the vehicle he was in rolled over near Tal Afar. The 35-year-old Zorn was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 34th Armored Regiment of Fort Riley's 1st Infantry Division.

Zorn served as a communications information system operations noncommissioned officer with an adviser team in Iraq. He had been in the Army since January 1994. He had been assigned to Fort Riley as an adviser since January 2009.

To date, 169 soldiers, sailors and airmen from Fort Riley have died in either Afghanistan or Iraq.
