2nd hearing on power line planned

Eds: APNewsNow.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- A small group of Kansans who didn't get a required notice about plans to build a transmission line will get a chance to voice their views to state regulators.

The Kansas Corporation Commission will conduct a July 1 hearing at the LaCrosse City Auditorium with ITC Great Plains picking up the costs.

That's because ITC overlooked 17 landowners when it sent out notices for the May 14 hearing on plans to build a 345-kilovolt line between Spearville near Dodge City and Hays. State law requires all landowners within 660 feet of the proposed line to receive notice of the intent to build. The notices originally were sent April 21.

The hearing will give landowners a chance to talk to the commission about the proposed route and voice any concerns they might have.
