Former TV star bounces back from woes
Eds: APNewsNow.
OLATHE, Kan. (AP) -- Willie Aames, the former star of TV's "Eight is Enough," says he's on his way back from financial ruin.
In fact, the 49-year-old Olathe resident who has filed for bankruptcy twice since 1997, is training to become a financial adviser.
Aames says he hopes his story will help others who are facing severe financial problems.
Thomas W. Butch, the president of Waddell & Reed Inc. took an interest in the former actor after he hit bottom. Aames has responded by passing two of the three tests required to qualify as a financial adviser.
Butch says he thinks Aames has the talent to become a good financial adviser.
