Man found guilty in death of Cuban immigrant

Eds: APNewsNow.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- A Wichita man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the 1995 death of a Cuban immigrant.

A Sedgwick County jury deliberated about two hours Thursday before finding Terral Breedlove guilty in the shooting death of Rigoberto Garcia, whose body was found behind a Wichita grocery store on Aug. 12, 1995.

Garcia was one month away from becoming a U.S. citizen when he was killed. Prosecutors said Breedlove shot Garcia and stole his car.

The Kansas Supreme Court last year set aside Breedlove's original convictions for murder, robbery and assault because of a legal error made in 1997.

Breedlove's sentencing is set for Aug. 14.
