Collins Bus reopens following storm
Eds: APNewsNow.
SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) -- The Collins Bus Corp. manufacturing plant in South Hutchinson will restart production Monday after being closed a week because of storm damage.
The southern facility of the Collins plant was heavily damaged Sunday night by a microburst thunderstorm. The western part of the plant, which provides most of the manufacturing activity, was not damaged.
No employees working at the plant were injured.
Company president Keny Tyler says the company has made changes to its production line to allow its approximately 280 employees to report back to work before the rest of the plant is repaired.
He said the stoppage won't affect existing customer orders and more orders for buses have come in since then.
Insurance adjusters are still determining the cost of the damage.
