TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) -- A 70-year-old man from central Kansas is the winner of a Powerball lottery jackpot worth nearly $97 million.
Great Bend resident Donald Damon was introduced Friday afternoon at the Kansas Lottery headquarters in Topeka.
Damon says he bought the winning ticket at the Great Bend Dillons grocery store around 3 p.m. Wednesday, seven hours before the drawing in the multistate game.
Damon can take the prize in a lump sum or in annual payments. Lottery officials said if he takes the lump sum, after taxes, it would be almost $34 million.
