NW Kansas hit with first snowstorm of season

Eds: APNewsNow. CHANGES slug, FIXES headlines. ADDS Interstate 70 reopened.

GOODLAND, Kan. (AP) -- Some parts of northwest Kansas received up to 10 inches of snow Thursday night as a storm rolled into the state from Colorado.

But the National Weather Service says the white stuff will be gone by the end of the weekend as temperatures rise into the 50s and 60s.

Rawlins County saw the biggest accumulation with 10 inches.

Meteorologist Scott Lockhart says areas south of Interstate 70 received little if any snow from the system.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says Interstate 70, which was closed from Colby to the Colorado state line because of the storm, reopened around 10 a.m. Friday.
