Man sentenced in murder-for-hire killing

Eds: APNewsNow.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) -- A life sentence has been ordered for the hired gun who not only killed his target but paralyzed the woman who was paying him to kill her husband.

Darrell Rodgers was sentenced Friday in Wyandotte County District Court for first-degree murder. The Kansas City Star reported that he will not be eligible for parole for 20 years.

Prosecutors said Alesia Warrior hired Rodgers to kill her husband, Jeremy Warrior, in April 2005.

Her husband was killed and she was left paralyzed when Rodgers opened fire on the couple's vehicle.

Warrior was convicted in September 2008 for her role in the plot and is serving a life sentence. She will not be eligible for parole for 50 years.
