After a 12-8 loss to last-place Dodge City on Sunday night at Larks Park, the Hays Larks remain in third place in the Jayhawk League standings.
Hays (19-12 overall, 12-11 Jayhawk) fell to Dodge City (12-21, 4-2) for the first time this season, as Calvin Lewis was roughed up in the first inning for five runs on six hits and a Larks error. Lewis (3-1), who gave up six runs on eight hits in three innings, lost for the first time this season.
Andrew Heck had a hot bat Sunday, going 3-for-6 with two runs scored, a home run and two RBIs. Joe Huwer also had three hits for the Larks, who had 12 hits.
Chris Ciesla hit a pair of homers and drove in six runs in Dodge City's 16-hit attack. Jesse Reinstein got the win in relief for the A's.
The Larks are on the road for two games, playing tonight and Tuesday in Liberal. Hays, Liberal and Derby are battling for second place behind league leader El Dorado.
