SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- The Olympic torch has started its run through the South Korean capital.

The torch began a 15-mile relay run Sunday from Seoul's Olympic Park, built to commemorate the 1988 Summer Olympics. Some 8,000 officers have been deployed to ensure the relay is not disturbed.

Various activist groups, including those campaigning for rights of North Korean refugees in China, have said they will seek to block the torch.
