Pursuant to K.S.A. 1998 Supp. 65-1, 179 (c) and (d) and K.A.R. 28-18a-7, Bison Rush Genetics, LLC of P.O. Box 220, Carthage, Illinois 62321 has submitted a permit application with plans to the Kansas Department of Health & Environment (KDHE) for review. The plans and permit application are for a swine breeding through farrowing operation. Existing finishing buildings will be used for gilt development. Proposed is a gestation/breeding building, a farrowing building and a gilt development unit and will also include a mortality compost facility. The swine operation will have facilities for 6287.4 animal units and will be located on a tract in the Southwest One-Quarter of Section 3, Township 16 South, Range 17 West in Rush County, Kansas. If the Department’s review of the application indicates the application is satisfactory, then the Department will prepare a draft permit and notify the public of its preliminary decision to issue a permit. KDHE has 180 days from the day they receive a complete application to make final determination.
