Special to The Hays Daily News

Dr. Garret Schmidt has been the primary planner of the Paul and Catherine family reunion event planned for Saturday and Sunday in Hays. Schmidt also will act as emcee. He resides in Kansas City, where he has practiced veterinary medicine since his graduation from Kansas State University in 1985.

There have been more than 150 responses for attendance at the reunion. Relatives will arrive from all across the United States and one foreign country. Tour events will take place on the original farm owned and operated by descendants of Paul and Catherine Schmidt, plus tours at the original home site in Catharine, Mass, visits to the cemetery, a tour and lunch at Blue Sky Miniature Horse Farm (owned by a descendant), and Saturday and Sunday visiting, program and dinner at the Fox Pavilion, 1202 Main.

Other cousins instrumental in organization are Kent Schmidt, Gene Schreiner, Stanley Schmidt and Jerry "Butch" Schmidt.
